Crazy people with crazy ideas are the target for the FbStart Accelerator at NG_HUB. To push this, there will be a road show of the Facebook and CCHub team across 13 cities in Nigeria in 30 days, to engage with students and promote the benefits of the Accelerator program. Top people from Facebook and CcHub will be part of this in order to find out students at the PhD, Msc and Bsc level daring to build far sighted solutions. Earlier in 2017, we had written about the launch of the Facebook Hub in Nigeria and the goodies Facebook was bringing our way. Now its finally here.

The roadshow starts May 28, 2018 at the University of Lagos and runs till June 22nd, 2018, ending at University of Jos, Plateau State. The University of Port-Harcourt will be the 2nd city to be visited on the 30th May, 2018. Other universities to be visited are the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Anambra, University of Ibadan, Oyo, Ladoke Akintola University, University of Uyo, Ahmadu Bello University. You can view other cities to be visited and dates here 

 Some of the things happening at the road show  are;

  • Interactive sessions to discuss deep tech and the opportunities they present
  • A Q&A session about the FbStart Accelerator and what teams need to know about applying.
  • Demo of interesting solutions already built by students with the chance to get on-the-spot feedback
  • A showcase of Deep Tech solutions built locally.
  • Swags from Facebook, Games, food, fun and more

The FbStart Accelerator is a deep-tech focused accelerator program for visionary and innovative teams using advanced technologies to solve problems in our society and build solutions for the future.

It is designed to provide up to $20,000 in equity-free funding and support to innovative startup and student teams building solutions that utilize any of these technologies; Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Internet of Things, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Student and startup teams will also get direct technical and business mentorship from both amazing tech teams of CcHub and Facebook.
