The month of September was a very eventful one for techies and those in the PH start up community. From the Start up South 3 Uyo and Owerri pre-conference, the Ken Saro Wiwa Foundation Hub WordPress meet up 1.0, to the Ycombinator meetup in Lagos hosted by Paystack, it was an exciting one last week. In case you missed some of the events that held, here are a few sneak peeks-

#Startupsouth3 Owerri pre-conference

The Startupsouth 3 Owerri pre-conference held last Friday at  the Oluaka Academy at Obinze, owerri. The event was lit! There were pitches by startups, fireside chats and networking all geared at building the startup community in Owerri

 

 

YCombinator Lagos meetup

The Y Combinator (YC) Meetup in Lagos held at the Paystack office in Ikeja, on September 23rd, 2017 to prepare aspiring founders, for the  YC Winter 2018 funding cycle application, which closes on October 3rd, 2017.

There were networking sessions and moderated discussion with YC founders. Among the advice shared to help with the YC application was that building traction is important, but if you are unable to build traction, build a great team. Participants were also told to simplify products as much as possible both for users and investors. And most importantly, build what people want.

The POrt-Harcourt delegation to the YC Lagos meetup was led by Bereni Fiberesima of Netopps and Startup Sunday. Other startup founders were Ezieke Amaefula, founder of Pamdrive.com, Daniel Alibi of throway.com.ng and Victor Tams of Wokkaholic.com. There was also Precious of chigisoft.com and founders of searchproperty.ng and myfoodyshop.com

Saro Wiwa Innovation Hub WordPress Meetup 1.0

The WordPress Community Meetup 1.0 held on Saturday 23rd September 2017 at the Ken Saro Wiwa Innovation Hub in Port-Harcourt and the aim was to teach people how to navigate WordPress. Participants were made to understand that WordPress is very easy to use with attention to details.
